Our Children’s Home

At our children’s home, fostering independence, providing mentorship, and offering practical resources to young people aged 16 and above are our core objectives. We empower and guide young people towards becoming self-reliant, confident, and responsible contributors to society, while ensuring their day-to-day needs are met in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.

Core Areas of Support

Emotional & Mental Health

We recognise that many young people in care have experienced trauma and instability. Our care is rooted in trauma-informed practice, creating safe, stable environments that support emotional regulation and wellbeing. We encourage positive coping strategies and, where appropriate, support access to therapeutic services.

Strong, trusting relationships are central to our care. Staff take time to listen, show genuine interest, and validate young people’s experiences, helping them feel respected, understood, and valued. We also support advocacy, ensuring young people are heard and supported to express their views, including access to independent advocates where needed.

Practical Skills & Independence

We support young people to develop the life skills essential for independent living. This includes cooking, cleaning, personal care, time management, communication, problem-solving, and maintaining healthy daily routines. Support is practical, consistent, and age-appropriate, building confidence and resilience over time.

Education, Training & Employment

Education and learning are key to positive long-term outcomes. We support engagement in education, training, apprenticeships, or alternative learning pathways, working closely with schools, colleges, and professionals to promote achievement, attendance, and progression. Young people are also supported to develop employability skills and prepare for future work opportunities.

Financial Empowerment

We help young people develop financial awareness and responsibility, including budgeting, saving, understanding bills and benefits, and managing income or allowances. This support prepares them for financial independence as they move towards adulthood.

Safe & Stable Housing

We provide a safe, secure, and supportive living environment where young people feel protected and valued. Our home promotes stability, safeguarding, and wellbeing, with clear boundaries and consistent support that encourages personal growth and independence as young people transition to adulthood.

Community Engagement

We actively encourage positive community involvement, supporting young people to access local services, participate in activities, volunteer, and build healthy social relationships. Community engagement helps foster confidence, a sense of belonging, and social responsibility.

Empowerment & Rights

Young people are supported to understand their rights and entitlements, particularly as they prepare to transition out of care. We provide opportunities for voice and influence, enabling them to shape their care and contribute to service improvement, empowering them to take ownership of their future.
